54 l Performing a network scan
Below are the features specific to scanning a TCP/IP network:
Ÿ IP Addr: The first three octets of the address of the controller for which
you want to scan. Type the address using the decimal dotted IP
Address format (for example, 3.58.157).
Ÿ Next Area: Click to increment the third decimal dotted value by one.
By default, the scan range is not enabled. If the scan range isn’t set
when you click Next Area, the scan range is based on your computer
address and 1 through 255.
Ÿ Setup: Click to set a specific scan range of IP Addresses in the
Network Scan TCP/IP Setup dialog box. By setting a range, you can
finely tune the scanning for optimum performance.
Below are the features of the Network Scan TCP/IP dialog box:
Ÿ Use scan range: Select to use the scan range setting. By default, it’s
cleared.
Ÿ Scan Range From: The address from which a scan will begin and
increments by one point in the third dotted decimal value each time
Next Area is clicked.
Ÿ Scan Range To: The address value that will be last scanned before
starting again at the Scan Range From value when Next Area is
clicked.
v For more information on scanning the network, see “Performing a
network scan” on page52.
To reduce the scan time, limit the range of IP addresses to the smallest amount
necessary to cover the Schneider Ethernet devices on the network.
In the example shown, the scan is
set to begin at 3.58.157.1 and end
at 3.58.157.95.
When Next Area is clicked in the
Network Scan dialog box, the scan
begins at 3.58.158.1 and contin-
ues until 3.58.158.95 is reached.
